Sounds Crazy, But Possible! Cats can be trained to do many things. It just depends on how much time and patience that you possess. Most cats tend to take longer to attain a behavior and depending on the behavior they can also be harder to maintain. But not impossible. They can learn: come when called, walk on a leash, stay, lay down etc.. The first thing that has to happen is that you must believe that it is possible and expect it. Then do the work to teach them the desired behavior(s).

Yes, I am crazy. I am crazy about cats. They are fun and challenging. Cats can be very loving, ornery, playful, fussy, caring, aloof, entertaining, supportive, mischievous, and intuitive. They are very intelligent as well. They can train their caretakers faster than most animals. They know how to push our buttons to get what they want. They are masters at getting the dog in trouble and making you feel sorry for them "innocent victim." It is a fact that Cats get away with a lot of stuff! But you have to admit life is never boring.

Cats are sometimes intimidating to some people because they see right through the persons facade. You can’t lie to them, so I tell my clients, “don’t bother”. They wear their emotions on their sleeve. This often causes them to be moody. Contrary to popular belief Cats don’t like change. Try putting their litter box in another location. This could set off a war of the wills in some homes.

Cats are a pride animal and do respect authority, but you must earn it. For some breeds of Cats it takes more to obtain the authority position. Cats are very much like humans. Their personalities range from calm, cool and collected to neurotic. I prefer middle of the road type cats, with a little spice mixed in, but I love them all.

If you understand the individual you are dealing with, it is a lot easier to make an educated decision on the direction you should go in their training. Wrong directions in training can be emotionally straining on you and your Cat. Let us help you go down the right path.
