In therapy it doesn't matter what size dog you have
just how big his heart is.
Therapy Dogs are used for many different reasons.
And the list goes on... |
Therapy work is a true labor of love. Not all dogs or persons are suited for therapy. If you wish to become skilled enough to be considered a therapy team, it can be extremely rewarding.
Here are a few golden rules. Every Therapy dog must have a certified handler. The dog can not show any aggression at any time. The dog should be able to perform his work with other dogs, cats, and small animals around.
The most important thing is that both the handler and the dog must have a heart to serve. This kind of work doesn’t pay monetarily, but it can give you a great wealth of love. Not to mention you know you have brightened someone else’s day.
If you are interested and you think your dog has what it takes or could have what it takes with a little training, give us a call. We will come out and evaluate you and your dog and let you know if you are a candidate. Who knows, it may lead you down a path to one of the most enriching experiences of your life.
If you do not have a dog yet. Give us a call, we can help you pick out a dog that will compliment you in your quest to help others. We can also come along side you and your dog and help train you in the skills that you both will need to become a successful therapy team.
