Ferrets have been domesticated since the medieval times.  They were trained for various reasons — they are known for their thievery, ferreting out rodents and other odd jobs.

I fell in love with ferrets when I saw “The Beast Master” in the early 80’s.  With proper training — Ferrets can be loving, sweet, and playful . I have found that ferrets are fairly easy to care for and are extremely entertaining.  In college my fellow students would take a ferret break when they got bogged down in their studies.   They loved to watch my ferrets play.

For those of you that wish to do fun things with your ferrets, there are Ferret shows. There are also ferret rescues for those who are interested in helping ferrets find the ultimate dream of a Forever Home! The National Ferret Association can be a good source of general information.

Once you have had a ferret, it is hard to be without one or two or three. LOL

To answer the question are they mean? NO! They are no different than the domestic cat or dog. If they are bred right, and trained right they all can be wonderful and fun.
